OlivesAbout

In 1995, I started to lose my hair to Alopecia, an immune disorder that causes the body to attack the hair producing cells. Then in 2005, when the spots on my head got out of hand, I become proactive and shaved my head. I am not completely hairless. I have the condition known as Alopecia Areata the lesser of the three related conditions.

A small number of individuals found each other online and began participating in chat, forums and groups. The only websites available back then, urged people with alopecia to use cremes, get shots and take medication or hide under wigs and toupees. Many of these treatments either did not work at all or are extremely painful.

Today, a simple Google search displays support groups that are online, actors, musicians, authors, business owners, and artists all living their lives and owning Alopecia. It's time for all of us to stand together and be proud of who we are and what we can become. Being proactive works.

I'm bald and never been happier! Browse the website, learn more about Alopecia, get to know me more, and if you ever stumble upon me personally, say hello!

Cordially,

Chris Alstatt
